What is Cub Scouts and Cub Scouting all about?
Cub Scouts do fun things with other kids! They get to wear a cool uniform, go places, and see things. They play all kinds of sports and build things, like race cars and bird houses. Want to learn a secret code? Want to learn about wild animals? Join Cub Scouting!
Cub Scouting...
...is a fun, family program designed to promote character, fitness, and citizenship in boys and girls in kindergarten through fifth grades. Cub Scouting seeks to help parents foster children's self-esteem and teach cooperation and leadership through games, crafts, sports, skill building, recognition, and other fun activities. The scouts learn to work and play together, help out in the community, but most importantly, they learn about themselves with the guidance of the values that Cub Scouting strives to instill. The values are based on those found in the Cub Scout Promise, the Law of the Pack and the Cub Scout Motto:
Cub Scout Oath
On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country,
and to obey the Scout Law
To help other people at all times
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight
Scout Law
A Scout is,
Trustworthy
Loyal
Helpful
Friendly
Courteous
Kind
Obedient
Cheerful
Thrifty
Brave
Clean
and Reverant
The Cub Scout Motto....
"Do Your Best"
Doing his best is one of the most important things for the Cub Scout to learn. Boys often become so interested in winning that they fail to see the importance of doing the best they can at everything. One boy's best might be quite different from another boy's best. Cub Scouting teaches boys that no one can find fault with them if they always do their best.
